The short version
LDU, in three parts
The problem
LDU sells senior legal, HR and compliance people by the fraction rather than by the hour, in a market where the wrong sentence is a regulatory problem rather than a copy problem. The site they had described a law firm, which LDU is not and may not claim to be. Nobody on the team could change a word without a developer. There was nothing at all in the four languages their actual market reads. And after a client signed, the relationship became an email thread: no product, no place to see what was owed, no place to see the work.
What I did
I set the direction before I set the type. Two questions decided everything after. What does a fractional legal team look like when it is a screen instead of an invoice? That answer became Fraction: you assemble a team of digital twins of real people on LDU's roster, you work with them the way you work with a colleague, and when an output needs a named human to stand behind it you press verify. Liability attaches at that moment and not before, so unverified work is working material. The second question was what this company can say out loud, which became a written language rule set and a checker that runs it over both the repository and the live CMS database, because copy that is clean in the code can still be overridden at render time by an editor.
What shipped
Four surfaces on one design system. A five-language marketing site on Next.js with English as the source. A Payload CMS that merges editor changes over the shipped defaults, so LDU changes a price or a headline without a deploy and without a developer. A partner referral portal with a full commission ledger and a quarterly leaderboard where the money is public and the names are not. And Fraction: twins, services, a board room, a matter view, a to-do list of the small things the team needs back from you, and Lia, who handles the notes, the admin and the data room, and hands a question to a human rather than guessing at it.
